Scenario 1

You are a ruler, and long has war raged between your kingdom, and another. The fact that you are not of the same species has only fueled hostilities further. However, it seems as though you may have finally reached a point where the war can come to an end. Good thing too; while your people were holding out well, a series of losses had shifted the balance of power in your enemies favor. Perhaps that was why you so readily accepted the terms of the peace treaty: That each royal family exchange their youngest member, to be raised as an ambassador within the other kingdom's culture. While you are not exactly excited to give up your youngest child (or sibling), it has been made clear that there is no negotiating this.

So, with heavy hearts, you and your family and a small selection of guards arrive at the site for the exchange, a neutral territory selected by you. After a tearful goodbye, you send your family member walking towards the other side, just as you see your former foes send their own. Just as they reach you, you hear screaming, and look up just in time to see that one of your enemies has drawn their sword, and with one motion cut the head from your family member's shoulders. The screaming continues as this is revealed to be an ambush, archers from the enemy kingdom suddenly appearing and firing on you and your entourage.

You look at the child sent to you, hate beginning to burn in your chest. They're looking around, just as panicked and confused as you, when an arrow finds it's way into their shoulder, sending them to the ground. You saw the archer, and it was clear they were aiming for the young royal. With no other option, your people barely manage to fight their way out, bringing the injured enemy with them. You finally get over the border and into your lands... now what to do with the kid who seemed to be sacrificed just to kill you and the rest of your family?

What Do You Do?

Scenario 2:

You are the youngest member of a royal family, in a kingdom long at war with a species of barbarians. Or at least, that has been what you have been told your entire life, in between getting drawn in and out of the eternal power struggle that is politics in your realm. The war doesn't exactly help with that, of course. However, it seems that that may be coming to an end relatively soon, as your parents announce to you that they have agreed on a peace treaty. And the only concession... is you. You are to be sent to the enemy kingdom, to be raised by them and to become an ambassador. You aren't exactly thrilled with this arrangement, but you have no say in the matter.

And so, the day of the exchange comes. You find it strange that your family allowed the enemy to choose the place. Why would they risk being ambushed like that? At any rate, the time finally comes. After an oddly formal goodbye, you begin walking towards the others, passing right by the other half of the trade. They give you a tiny smile in passing, as though to try and reassure you, to let you know they are facing the same thing. Well at least the one taking your place is nice, it seems. You are just about to reach your new hosts, when you hear screaming.

Looking back, you see one of your family members has suddenly beheaded the royal being traded for you, and your eyes widen, looking at the ones who were meant to become your new family. The leader stares back at you with hatred, but before any action can be taken, you feel a sharp pain in your shoulder, and you are sent to the ground. The rest is a blur, ending with darkness for you. Your next coherent thought coming within what appears to be the enemy palace. Your wound has been tended to... and there is a shackle attaching your right arm to the bed.

What do you do?

Da Rules:

1) Blah blah, PG13, blah blah, read my rules, blah blah.

2) This is not strictly a "humans v. monsters" rp, though it could very well be if you wish. Tell me what your character's species is, and if you have any preference for what your enemy's species is.

3) Just because it's the youngest member doesn't mean it has to be a small child. Teenagers are perfectly acceptable too, so do not be concerned with that.
Going dark for an rp that I really shouldn't be making, but hey it's been a while. Not like I;ve used this set-up three times already

Any of my characters are applicable, or if you like I can create a new one on the spot.

I know you haven't been doing as much lately, at least it seems that way. Either that or you've been really busy. Wanted to start this though. Was thinking humans versus sort of a anthro mouse, human sized, or something like that. Same lifespan as humans, no real special powers aside from better hearing and smell, and a prehensile tail. The whole downside as well of smelling like wet fur after a bath, and such would of course be there too. That sound good to you?
