The 'Demon' Rp Prompt

Your town has had a pretty big problem for a pretty long time. There's a rather large woods nearby you, and for as long as anyone can remember, it's been inhabited by what everyone assumes is some kind of horrible demon. Mysterious thing happen in town often, mostly objects disappearing, and on occasion other nuisances in line with what an imp or other infernal creature would do. Wells drying up every other day for a week, houses catching fire inexplicably, and, on one occasion, an entire harvest of failed crops that nearly resulted in the whole town's demise. The reason it's believed whatever entity is responsible lives in the woods, is because whenever things such as this happens, a storm brews over the forest, and only there.

Many have, of course, attempted to go in and find out the truth, and perhaps put a stop to it, but they always return unsuccessful, often weeks or even months after first going in, and generally worse for wear. There had never been any casualties of these endeavours, but it became a town rule quickly that none could set foot in the woods, for fear of enraging whatever manner of demon dwells in the woods further.


Scenario 1

You are someone living in this village, and recently, there has been a conspicuous absence of catastrophe. In fact, if anything, your village has been visited by rather good luck in recent weeks. No one understands it, some are even allowing themselves to hope that the demon has left altogether. For the most part, though, no one is questioning it, and everyone is just enjoying this reprieve, no matter how brief. However, you have noticed something odd. Your sibling (or child, depending on your preference for your character) seems to be rather tired during the day, and the timing matches up. You're mildly concerned about this, but they are mute whenever you ask if they hadn't been sleeping well, or another answer. 

So, you decide to take matters into your own hands. One night, you go into their room to check and see if anything is going on, and you are shocked to find them gone! Looking out the open window, you see a rope dangling out of it... and you see them running through the village and towards the woods! You're horrified, and by the time you are out of the house they have already been swallowed up by the forest. You immediately give chase, not even thinking about yourself as you enter the accursed forest, shouting your loved one's name. Finally, you reach a clearing, and in it, you see them at last... sitting with another person, the two of them talking quietly... and then the stranger smiles and holds out a hand, making flames dance across his palm. You gasp as you realize that this must be the demon that has terrorized your town for so long! You step out of the forest immedietly, fury on your face, and you see the 'demon' notice you, his contented look turning to terror...


Scenario 2

You are the "demon" living inside the forest near this village, but there's actually nothing demonic about you... at least, not that you're aware of. But it would explain why your impressive magical abilities had been out of your control since you were a child. It got to the point where, when you were just six years old, your family abandoned you in the woods, likely expecting you to die. But... you didn't. Somehow, your magic kept you fed, clothed, and healthy. However, it certainly didn;t make you happy, especially when bad thinsg started happening tot he village because of you. Some resentment you felt, deep down, for being abandoned and scorned, must have been affecting your magic, causing it to lash out involuntarily at the townspeople. And as their hatred for the "demon" grew, so too did the detrimental affects of your powers, as well as your own sense of self-loathing.

And then... they showed up. Someone from the village, coming into the woods to meet with you, their intent to stop you. However, as you began to speak with them, you were amazed to fidn that they weren;t afraid, and before long, you realized that, at last, you were no longer alone. You had a friend. Your meetings got more and more frequent, and as they did, you fidn your control over your magic growing slightly. Not to the point where you can stop the effects ont he village, though now that they seemed to be beneficial, you weren;t sure you wanted to. One night, you were showing them a trick you had figured out how to do... when you see a stranger looking at you with a face full of hatred, and all your fear and sorrow suddenly rushes back to you...

2) This rp is something of an experiment, to see if this format will work. Here's how it'll go down: Unless otherwise asked, I will play the sibling (or child). However, you can, of course, request to play them. This applies regardless of which scenario you chose.

3) If you choose scenario 2, the source of your character's absurd level of magical power is up to you, but they must appear human.
